People’s Leasing Supports Coastal Safety Awareness and Beach Cleaning Initiative at Pamunugama- Ja-Ela

Demonstrating its commitment to community safety and environmental sustainability, People’s Leasing & Finance PLC recently installed 10 safety awareness boards along the coastal stretch from Sarakkuwa Hill to Thaldiyawaththa in Pamunugama – Ja-ela following a request made by the Pulluhena Community Police Committee.

The identified coastal area has been identified as a high-risk bathing zone as several unfortunate drowning incidents have occurred in recent years. Despite the inherent dangers, the beach attracts large numbers of local residents and visitors. To protect the public, safety boards were installed at key points to encourage caution in these high-risk areas.

Alongside the installation of the safety awareness boards, a beach clean-up programme was conducted under the joint organization of the Coast Conservation Department, Pamunugama Police, the Bopitiya Pradeshiya Sabha, and the 165B Pulluhena Community Police Committee. Under the guidance of the organizing authorities, officials from the Biyagama Export Processing Zone, representatives of Future Fibres Lanka, and staff members from People’s Leasing Head Office, together with the Ja-Ela and Wattala branches, participated in the beach clean-up programme.

Through this initiative, People’s Leasing reaffirmed its commitment to creating a safer and cleaner environment while contributing positively to the well-being of coastal communities.
